Ukrainian long-range drones targeted large warehouses belonging to Wildberries, the major Russian online retailer, NBC News reported Wednesday.
Wildberries is widely known as an Amazon-style marketplace in Russia. According to NBC News, the platform is used mainly by ordinary Russians selling goods, while it also offers military-related items such as body armor and drone parts.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the warehouses were involved in supplying Russia’s military, according to NBC News. He also said Ukraine was bringing the war home to Russia.
The strike puts a familiar consumer brand into the frame of Ukraine’s long-range campaign against targets inside Russia. NBC News described Wildberries as Russia’s answer to Amazon, making the attack notable because the company is not only tied to commerce but, according to Zelenskyy, to military supply.
NBC News did not report details on damage, casualties or a response from Wildberries in its video segment.
