A&E is putting one of America’s most closely watched murder cases back on television with a two-part documentary, Scott Peterson: The New Evidence, airing across two nights in July.

The first two-hour installment premieres Thursday, July 16, at 9 p.m. ET on A&E. The second and final two-hour episode follows Friday, July 17, at 8 p.m. ET, according to the network schedule cited for the special.

For viewers without a traditional cable package, A&E can be livestreamed through several live TV services. DirecTV, Hulu + Live TV and Philo are listed as options with free trials, while Sling carries A&E but does not offer a free trial.

How to stream the A&E documentary

DirecTV includes A&E through its Choice, Ultimate and Premier plans, with a five-day free trial listed for new customers. After that trial, those plans start at $64.99 per month.

Hulu + Live TV also carries A&E and lists a three-day free trial. Its live TV plan starts at $89.99 per month and includes access to Disney+ and ESPN+.

Philo offers A&E through its Essential plan, which is listed at $25 per month after a seven-day free trial. The package also includes channels such as Hallmark, Discovery and Food Network.

Sling carries A&E in its Orange, Blue and Orange + Blue plans, with pricing listed from $45.99 per month. Short-term viewing options are also listed for viewers who want access without a longer subscription.

What A&E says the special covers

A&E says Scott Peterson: The New Evidence examines recent developments in the case, including witness testimony described by the network as not previously heard and insight from Peterson’s former defense attorney, Mark Geragos.

The network also says the documentary includes people close to the case and prosecution experts. The special is produced by Left/Right, with Banks Tarver, Ken Druckerman, Pete Ross and Maija Norris serving as executive producers.

The A&E project follows another major television revisit of the case, Peacock’s 2024 docuseries Face to Face with Scott Peterson.

The case that kept the country watching

Laci Peterson, 27, disappeared from her home in Modesto, California, on Dec. 24, 2002. Her body was found on April 14, 2003, near San Francisco Bay.

At the time of her death, Laci Peterson was eight months pregnant with her and Scott Peterson’s son, Conner. Scott Peterson was arrested on April 18, 2003, and was later tried and convicted in the killings.

Peterson is serving life in prison without the possibility of parole at Mule Creek State Prison. His original death sentence was overturned in 2020, while his conviction remains in place.

Peterson has maintained his innocence. As of April 2026, he had been denied a new trial, though the case continues to draw attention from true crime viewers, social media users and some legal experts who have argued for his innocence.
