The Elon Musk Odyssey AI idea has landed in late night, where Seth Meyers used his NBC desk to take aim at Musk’s reported plan for a “historically accurate” AI version of The Odyssey, according to Mashable.
Meyers, in a video highlighted by Mashable, went straight at the premise: Musk wants to make his own AI take on the ancient story, while describing it as historically accurate. That label gave the Late Night with Seth Meyers host plenty to chew on.
“Wow, I can’t wait for that to suck,” Meyers said, according to Mashable.
He then framed the project as a stack of contradictions, saying Musk would be using “fake actors stolen from real actors” to make “a fake movie” that presents itself as a “real version of a fake story.”

Meyers mocked both the AI angle and the “historically accurate” branding. He imagined clunky chatbot-style dialogue in which Odysseus is told to return home, then replies with chipper, generic lines about starting a journey, keeping things light and being available for whatever is needed.
The host also zeroed in on the core oddity of the pitch: The Odyssey is a myth, and Meyers treated the accuracy claim as the joke itself.
“Also, what do you mean historically accurate? It’s a myth!” Meyers said, according to Mashable. He followed that by asking whether Musk would also make a historically accurate version of The Santa Clause.
A “historically accurate” adaptation usually means a story tries to match known events, customs, settings or technology from a real time period. Meyers’ point was that applying that label to a myth makes the claim slippery, because the story is not being presented as a documentary record.

Meyers was not the only late-night figure to weigh in. Mashable reported that Colman Domingo, serving as a guest host on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, had already responded to Musk’s proposed AI version of The Odyssey.
