Jimothy, the Seattle raccoon currently running laps around the internet, has picked up a very 2026 badge of honor: his own Google search animation.
Mashable reported that users who type “Jimothy” into Google on a phone or desktop are treated to a raccoon-themed animation. After the little animal scurries across the results page, Google shows a button that lets users play the animation again or share it.
The feature was spotted Tuesday by Threads users, according to Mashable, including a post from the account @jillinginthenameof. The discovery quickly added another layer to Jimothy’s online rise, which has already included widely shared videos, photos and fan art.
A raccoon with internet momentum
Jimothy has become known online as a Seattle raccoon with an unusual body shape. Mashable reported that images and clips of him have circulated broadly, turning him into the latest animal to get a sudden burst of internet fame.
The Seattle Times previously reported that professors had speculated Jimothy’s distinctive shape could be linked to a congenital spine deformity. Mashable cited that reporting while noting that his appearance has helped make him a fixture in recent online posts.
That attention has now moved beyond social feeds. Google has a long history of playful search features for viral moments, public figures and pop-culture events, and Jimothy’s new animation places the raccoon in that very specific club of internet-recognized oddities.
What users see
According to Mashable, the animation appears after searching the single word “Jimothy.” It works on smartphone and desktop searches.
- Users enter “Jimothy” into Google.
- A raccoon animation runs across the screen.
- Afterward, a button appears with options to replay or share it.
Mashable’s report framed the animation as a new peak in Jimothy’s viral run. The raccoon had already been the subject of online reactions after neighborhood footage and photos spread across platforms.
For now, the tiny Google cameo is the clearest sign that Jimothy’s fame has jumped from local wildlife curiosity to full-on search-engine spectacle. The internet found a raccoon, named him Jimothy, made him art, and Google has now given him a curtain call every time someone searches his name.
