Lily Allen’s story is getting the feature-documentary treatment, with Prime Video planning an untitled film about the singer-songwriter for release in 2027.
According to Prime Video, the project will trace Allen’s public life and music career from her early days sharing mixtapes and demos on MySpace to her latest album, West End Girl, which centers on the end of her marriage to actor David Harbour.
The streamer has described the film as a look at “resilience, reinvention” and Allen taking control of her own story. Prime Video has not said how closely Allen is involved in the project.
The documentary is expected to include interviews with people close to Allen, according to Prime Video, though the company has not named any participants.
A career built in public
The film arrives after another sharp turn in Allen’s long-running relationship with fame. Rolling Stone reported that Allen had largely moved away from the music spotlight after releasing her 2018 album No Shame.
She returned seven years later with West End Girl, a record Rolling Stone said lays out the beginning and collapse of her relationship in song. The album marks the latest chapter in a career that began online, before social media became the standard launchpad for pop stars.

Prime Video has tapped Mat Whitecross to direct. Whitecross previously directed Supersonic, the 2016 documentary about Oasis, and A Head Full of Dreams, the 2018 film about Coldplay.
No exact premiere date has been announced. Prime Video is planning a theatrical window for the documentary, according to the streamer, before its wider release.
