Samsung opens preorders for Galaxy Z Flip 8 and Fold 8 line
Samsung’s new foldables start at $1,199.99, with preorders open now and availability set for Aug. 7.

Samsung’s next foldables are officially on the board, and the cheapest one still starts at $1,199.99.
The company announced three new phones at Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2026: the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, according to Mashable. All three are available to preorder from Samsung as of July 22, with general availability listed for Aug. 7.
The phones follow last year’s Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7. Mashable reported that the Z Flip 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra each cost $100 more than their previous-generation counterparts.
The preorder prices
Samsung’s preorder listings put the three models in familiar premium-phone territory, with the Ultra version topping the lineup.

The Galaxy Z Flip 8 is being offered in pink, graphite, cream and mint, with mint listed as an online-only color. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 comes in lavender, graphite, cream and pistachio, with pistachio also listed as online-only.
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is listed in violet shadow, graphite, cream and green shadow.
What Samsung is offering with the Flip 8
The Galaxy Z Flip 8 keeps Samsung’s clamshell design, folding into a compact square and opening into a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED display, according to Mashable.
Mashable reported that the phone has a dual-lens camera system with up to 10x zoom and 4K video recording at 60 frames per second. The device also includes 12GB of RAM and comes with either 256GB or 512GB of storage.
The Z Flip 8 is the entry point for this new foldable batch, though “entry” is doing some heavy lifting at $1,199.99.
What changes with the Fold 8
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 sits between the Flip 8 and Fold 8 Ultra in Samsung’s lineup. Mashable reported that rumors had pointed to a possible “Galaxy Z Fold Wide” name, but Samsung introduced it as the Galaxy Z Fold 8.
The Fold 8 has a 5.5-inch screen when folded and a 7.6-inch full-size display when opened, according to Mashable. The phone has a 4:3 fullscreen ratio.
Like the Flip 8, the Fold 8 includes a dual-lens camera, but Mashable reported that it can record video at up to 8K at 30 frames per second.
Storage and memory options include 12GB of RAM with either 256GB or 512GB of storage, or a higher-end version with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, according to Mashable.
What to know before ordering
Samsung’s new foldables are now in the preorder window, and the key dates are straightforward: preorders began July 22, and the phones are scheduled to be available Aug. 7.
For buyers choosing between the three, the clearest split is price and form factor: the Flip 8 is the compact clamshell, the Fold 8 opens into a larger screen, and the Fold 8 Ultra is the priciest model in the group.
