Samsung’s next Galaxy Unpacked event is set for 9 a.m. ET on July 22 in London, and the foldable phone crowd has plenty to watch.
Mashable reports that Samsung is expected to introduce at least five devices at the launch, including three foldable phones and two smartwatches. The anticipated lineup includes the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2.
The event is being staged in London this year, according to Mashable, with a keynote expected to introduce the new Galaxy hardware. Samsung also plans to livestream the presentation through its own website and YouTube, Mashable reports.
As of Mashable’s 5:19 a.m. ET update, the launch was less than four hours away, with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 expected to be shown officially for the first time. Mashable said it would provide live coverage before, during and after the event.
Mashable also said its Shannon Connellan would attend the London event and share impressions of Samsung’s newest devices. No pricing, specifications or availability details were included in the report ahead of the keynote.
What is expected
The rumored device slate, according to Mashable, is:
- Galaxy Z Flip 8
- Galaxy Z Fold 8
- Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra
- Galaxy Watch 9
- Galaxy Watch Ultra 2
The focus on foldables would keep Samsung’s Z-series phones at the center of its summer hardware push. Mashable described the event as one aimed at Android users and people considering a move to Android.
Galaxy Unpacked is Samsung’s global launch format for major device announcements, Mashable explains. When Galaxy phones, watches or other Galaxy devices are involved, the events are typically branded as Galaxy Unpacked.
These launches are usually tied to a host city, with Mashable citing previous examples such as New York, Seoul and London. Samsung leaders take part in a keynote to present the devices, while viewers outside the venue can follow along through the livestream.
The July 22 event is expected to center on the heavily rumored Galaxy Z 8 series, according to Mashable. For now, the confirmed details are the time, place and streaming options, while the device list remains framed as expected until Samsung makes its announcements on stage.
