Armando Niedermeier-Rubio made it to Arizona to be with his 13-year-old daughter Hannah, who is in intensive care after doctors found blood in her brain, according to TMZ.
The reunion brought him back together with husband Kenny Niedermeier outside the Phoenix hospital where Hannah is being treated. TMZ published video showing the two 90 Day Fiancé stars embracing after Armando was granted emergency entry into the United States.
Inside the hospital, Armando saw Hannah in person for the first time since she was transferred to the U.S. for further testing earlier this week, TMZ reported. In the video, he speaks softly to her and kisses her forehead. Hannah appears frail but manages to smile.
Kenny told TMZ that Hannah was caught off guard when her father arrived, saying she kept asking whether the moment was real. He said she appeared to improve further after Armando got there.
Armando’s mother was also part of an emotional reunion at the hospital, according to TMZ. Kenny said she did not know Armando would arrive late Friday afternoon. He said she and Kenny had been with Hannah in the days before Armando’s arrival while doctors ran tests.
Doctors still searching for answers
TMZ reported that doctors have not yet determined what caused Hannah’s brain bleed. Kenny previously told the outlet that the medical emergency began Tuesday, when Hannah had drooping on one side of her face and could not move half of her body, leading to her hospitalization.
Kenny told TMZ the uncertainty remains difficult for the family, but said he is encouraged because Hannah is improving and making progress.
The family’s race to reunite came after Armando was initially denied entry at the Mexican border while Hannah was receiving critical care in the U.S., TMZ reported.
The couple’s immigration attorney, Kelsey Zubkoff, told TMZ she was pursuing options to speed up their spousal visa process or secure an emergency order allowing Armando to enter the country and be with Hannah.
Emergency visa push involved Arizona officials
Kenny told TMZ the effort later succeeded with help from Zubkoff, Arizona Congresswoman Adelita Grijalva and supporting letters from Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly. He said Grijalva advocated for an emergency humanitarian visa for Armando.
Kenny also credited concerned fans for drawing attention to the family’s situation. He told TMZ the family is grateful to Customs and Border Protection officers in Arizona who ultimately approved and signed off on the visa.
He said the family has received thousands of supportive messages and thanked a fan who created a GoFundMe for Hannah.
“We’re just overwhelmed with all the love and support Hannah and us as a family received,” Kenny told TMZ. “We do not take it for granted and are forever grateful.”
