Baron Davis is being sued by his sister, Lissa Davis, in a family dispute over a Northridge, California, home that she says he helped arrange for her nearly two decades ago, according to a lawsuit obtained by TMZ.

Lissa alleges in the complaint that the former NBA guard committed fraud and intentionally caused emotional distress after she says she learned this year that he was selling the property without warning her. She is seeking damages in an amount not specified in the lawsuit, TMZ reported.

The case centers on a housing arrangement Lissa says began after a serious health scare in 2008. According to the lawsuit, she had a “life-threatening” medical issue following the birth of her son and turned to her brother for financial help.

Lissa claims Baron then persuaded her to sell her Northridge home, with the plan that he would buy another house for her through his realtors. In the lawsuit, she alleges he told her the title should remain in his name for “tax purposes.”

According to Lissa’s claims, she later found another home in Northridge and moved ahead with the arrangement. She says she and her husband put all of their savings into repairs and improvements at that property.

The alleged blowup came in January. Lissa claims in the lawsuit that she learned from a third-party realtor that Baron was selling the home. She alleges he had not told her about the sale beforehand.

The lawsuit accuses Baron of fraud, intentional infliction of emotional distress and additional claims, according to TMZ. The report did not list a specific dollar figure for the damages Lissa is seeking.

No response from Baron Davis was included in TMZ’s report. The allegations remain claims in a civil lawsuit.

Baron Davis, a former NBA standout, played in the league for years before becoming a familiar name in sports and entertainment circles. The dispute described in the lawsuit is about the house Lissa says was supposed to be connected to the family support she sought during her medical crisis.

For now, the fight is in the legal arena, with Lissa alleging that a home she and her husband invested their savings into was put up for sale by her brother without notice. Baron has not publicly answered those allegations in the TMZ report.
