Chris Rock’s Misty Green gets first A24 trailer ahead of Toronto debut
A24 has released the first trailer for Chris Rock’s new film, starring Rosalind Eleazar, Adam Driver, Daniel Kaluuya, Anna Kendrick and Topher Grace.

A24 has put the first official trailer for Misty Green online, marking Chris Rock’s return to feature directing more than a decade after Top Five.
Deadline reports that Rock directed the new film from a script he wrote. The movie centers on Misty, an actress with major talent whose personal struggles have repeatedly damaged her attempts to get her career moving again.
Her strongest chance in years comes from Jordan, a director played by Rock, who has a role that could fit her perfectly. According to the film details reported by Deadline, the catch is the history between Misty and Jordan, which is far from friendly.
Rosalind Eleazar stars in the film, with Adam Driver, Daniel Kaluuya, Anna Kendrick and Topher Grace also in the cast.
Rock writes, directs and stars
Misty Green is Rock’s first feature as director since Top Five, the 2014 comedy in which he played Andre Allen, a New York comedian and movie star trying to be taken seriously as an actor.
In that film, Allen’s reality TV star fiancée pushes him toward broadcasting their wedding on her show, according to Deadline’s description. Rock also wrote Top Five, which featured J. B. Smoove, Kevin Hart, Sherri Shepherd, Michael Che, Tracy Morgan, Jay Pharoah, Leslie Jones, Cedric the Entertainer, Jerry Seinfeld, Adam Sandler and Whoopi Goldberg.
Before Top Five, Rock directed I Think I Love My Wife in 2007. Deadline notes that the film was a remake of Éric Rohmer’s 1972 movie Love in the Afternoon. Rock also directed Head of State in 2003 and starred in both of those earlier features.
A24 lines up the players
The producing team for Misty Green includes Peter Rice and Rock, along with James Lopez for Macro Film Studios and Tommy Oliver for Confluential Films, Deadline reports.
Executive producers are Charles D. King for Macro Film Studios and Codie Elaine Oliver for Confluential Films.
The trailer’s arrival gives the first public look at Rock’s new feature before its festival bow. Deadline reports that Misty Green is set to debut at this year’s Toronto Film Festival.
A24 posted the trailer on YouTube under the title Misty Green Official Trailer HD. The distributor has not announced additional release details in the information reported by Deadline.
