A track alleged to be connected to D4vd briefly surfaced on Spotify while the singer remains jailed awaiting trial in the alleged murder of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas.

TMZ reported that the song, titled “MARCESCENCE,” was removed after roughly eight hours on Thursday, according to data cited by the outlet. The track’s Spotify page remains up, but the song can no longer be played.

The listing’s artwork showed D4vd holding a camera in a bathroom mirror, TMZ reported. The outlet also said a music video for the track appeared on Spotify before it was archived.

According to TMZ, the video did not disappear entirely from public view. A D4vd archive account later posted it on YouTube.

Who uploaded the track to Spotify, and when it was submitted, is not clear. TMZ also reported that it is unclear whether D4vd had any involvement with the release.

The criminal case

D4vd is in custody awaiting trial on charges tied to the death of Celeste Rivas, TMZ reported. He has pleaded not guilty.

Police found Rivas’ body in D4vd’s Tesla last year, according to TMZ. The outlet reported that her body had been dismembered.

Prosecutors allege D4vd killed Rivas last April. TMZ reported that prosecutors claim the killing happened after Rivas allegedly threatened to disclose potentially damaging information about what prosecutors described as an illicit relationship.

The allegations have not been proven in court, and D4vd’s not guilty plea remains his formal response to the charges.

Questions around the upload

The sudden appearance of “MARCESCENCE” adds a strange new wrinkle around the jailed singer, though the available information leaves key questions unanswered.

TMZ reported only that the track appeared, was playable for about eight hours, and was then taken down. The outlet did not identify the person or party responsible for uploading it.

The Spotify listing is no longer playable, but the track’s page and artwork were still visible after the removal, according to TMZ. The related video was also archived on Spotify, the outlet reported.

For now, the song’s short life on the platform remains a mystery attached to an already closely watched murder case. D4vd is awaiting trial, and prosecutors’ claims will be tested in court.
