Kylian Mbappé is back on EA’s box art, and he is bringing a fresh World Cup record with him.

Electronic Arts has named the French soccer star as the cover athlete for the Ultimate Edition of EA Sports FC 27 and the game’s mobile version, according to EA Sports FC.

The pick marks Mbappé’s first cover appearance for an EA Sports FC title. He previously appeared in the broader franchise four years ago, before EA’s soccer series moved on from the FIFA branding.

Mbappé gets the FC 27 spotlight

Mbappé has had a busy run since his last franchise cover. The player joined Real Madrid in 2024 and, at the most recent FIFA World Cup tournament, passed Lionel Messi’s all-time mark after scoring his 22nd goal on Sunday.

In a statement, Mbappé called the new cover “a very special moment” and said it was an honor to continue his long-running relationship with the franchise. He added that he was eager for players to experience FC 27.

Jeff Sharma, EA Sports FC’s vice president of franchise strategy and marketing, said in a statement that EA was “thrilled” to bring Mbappé back as cover star. Sharma said Mbappé’s club and international achievements have made him one of the leading players of his generation.

EA Sports FC is also teeing up a first look at the game. A trailer is scheduled to debut Thursday, July 23, at 9 a.m. PT.
