Sen. Chuck Schumer gave no answer when TMZ DC asked him whether he had passed gas on the Senate floor, according to video published by the outlet.
The moment followed a Tuesday Senate session captured by C-SPAN2, where TMZ said a loud noise appeared to come from the 75-year-old Senate minority leader. The clip set up a very direct follow-up from TMZ DC reporter Jacob Wasserman.
According to TMZ DC, Wasserman approached Schumer after the senator had been speaking with other reporters about political matters. Wasserman then asked: “Senator, Jacob with TMZ. Did you fart yesterday on the Senate floor?”
Schumer did not respond to the question in the video, TMZ DC reported. The outlet described his reaction as silence.
The underlying Senate footage was credited by TMZ to C-SPAN2. TMZ framed the noise as apparent, rather than confirmed, and Schumer has not publicly answered the question in the account published by the outlet.
The exchange landed in TMZ DC’s politics coverage, with the outlet noting that Schumer is dealing with major issues in Washington while also being asked about the strange sound from the Senate chamber.
No further response from Schumer was reported by TMZ DC.
