Shay Mitchell has been reading the internet’s luggage complaints, and Béis has now turned them into a product refresh.
The actor, Béis founder and chief creative officer told NBC Selected that the brand spent about two years updating nine pieces in its core travel lineup after reviewing nearly eight years of customer comments. The refreshed range is now available, according to NBC Selected.
Mitchell said customer feedback has a real effect on what the company considers for future products. She told NBC Selected that she and the design team used that input to rework the collection.
The Weekender gets the big edit
The best-known item in the refresh is Béis’ Weekender, listed by NBC Selected at $118. Mitchell said she still loves the original version, but the company made changes after seeing how customers actually travel and hearing what they wanted changed.
According to NBC Selected, the updated Weekender removes much of the previous hardware, replaces the leather bottom with canvas, adds locking zippers and increases padding on the shoulder straps.
The bag also now includes a divider between the main compartment and the shoe compartment. Mitchell said the divider can be rolled back to turn the inside into one larger packing area. She also said Béis removed the frame so travelers can pack more into it.
Weight was another customer gripe. Mitchell told NBC Selected the new Weekender is slightly lighter, while noting that any bag packed with heavy items will still feel heavy. She said the larger size works well for road trips and can sit on a roller suitcase, while the Mini Weekender is better for travelers who are not using wheeled luggage.
Nine products were updated
NBC Selected reported that the two-year “renovation” covers nine products: the Weekender, Mini Weekender, Travel Backpack, Dopp Kit, Packing Cubes in small through extra-large sizes, Large Check-In, Medium Check-In, Carry-On and Small Carry-On rollers.
The launch comes as Mitchell is also promoting her travel routine, including the products she keeps in her bag for road trips and long flights.
What Mitchell packs
Mitchell told NBC Selected that Wet Ones Antibacterial Hand Wipes are the first item she thinks of when asked what stays in her Weekender. She said she believes the wipes help her avoid getting sick during frequent travel.
She also said she carries several phone chargers and likes magnetic battery packs that attach to the back of a phone, such as Anker’s 621 Magnetic Portable Charger. According to Anker, the charger is less than half an inch thick and takes about two hours to recharge once drained.
Mitchell told NBC Selected she brings her own snacks rather than buying airport food. Her picks include Chomps beef jerky sticks, Aloha protein bars and Better Sours gummies.
For hot weather, NBC Selected reported that Mitchell used Shark’s ChillPill during a New York City visit for a Béis pop-up running through July 18. The device has interchangeable attachments for fan, mist and cooling-plate modes, and can be handheld or propped on a flat surface.
Mitchell also named HydraLyte Fizzy Electrolyte Powder as a bag staple, saying she does what she can to stay hydrated. NBC Selected reported that the single-serve lemon packets are low-sugar, according to the brand.
Her skin-care pick is Rini Daily Barrier Cream, from the brand she co-founded in November 2025. Mitchell told NBC Selected she uses it on her hands and body because she dislikes feeling dry on planes. NBC Selected reported that the fragrance-free cream is made in Korea, is formulated largely for children but can be used by adults, and is accepted by the National Eczema Association.
