Minnesota entered the Week 8 NFC North matchup at 6-0. Detroit, which improved to 5-2, had to answer a late Vikings rally to get the win.
How did the Lions beat the Vikings?
The Lions led 6-0 after two Jake Bates field goals before Minnesota took a 7-6 halftime lead. Kyler Murray found Justin Jefferson for a 1-yard touchdown with 14:25 left in the second quarter, ESPN’s scoring log shows.
Detroit moved back in front in the third when Jahmyr Gibbs broke loose for a 30-yard touchdown run. NBC News reported that the score put the Lions ahead 12-7 entering the fourth quarter.
Minnesota made its push with 8:44 remaining. Murray hit T.J. Hockenson for an 8-yard touchdown, then completed the two-point conversion to Jordan Addison for a 15-12 lead, according to ESPN.

Gibbs powered Detroit’s ground game with 153 rushing yards on 23 carries, according to USA Today. The outlet reported that Detroit outgained Minnesota 384 yards to 266, while Murray completed 17 of 29 passes for 210 yards.
