Glenwood Hoskin 1207 movies is the count behind a Pennsylvania moviegoing marathon that has been listed by Guinness World Records. Guinness says Hoskin saw 1,207 films in a cinema over one year, a total it lists under the title “Most films seen in a cinema in one year.”
The organization’s record listing gives Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, as the location and March 31, 2025, as the record date. It says Hoskin watched the films at his local theater.
That is a lot of trailers, popcorn ads and credits: 1,207 divided by 365 works out to about 3.3 films a day.
How did Glenwood Hoskin Jr. see 1,207 films in a year?
UPI reported that Hoskin planned each day around cinema listings, mapping out how many screenings he could fit in from early morning until midnight. He told the news agency that he enjoyed getting out of the house and having a goal to work toward, and that the planning was part of the appeal.
Guinness says Hoskin decided to pursue the mark after seeing the prior record and believing he had the time and desire to beat it. UPI identified that earlier benchmark as 777 films, held by Zachariah Swope.
UPI reported that Hoskin started his attempt in April 2024 and reached a year in April 2025. Guinness provides the more specific official record date of March 31, 2025, rather than an April date.
Does the total mean 1,207 different movies?
The record is for films seen at a cinema during a year, according to Guinness. The available reporting does not establish that all 1,207 were different titles.
Hoskin told UPI that some films exceeded his expectations, naming The Wild Robot and Deadpool & Wolverine among those he enjoyed. He said he could not name any films from the year that he disliked.
The result left the old 777-film mark far behind, while the daily pace explains the scale of the feat: more than three cinema screenings, on average, for every day of the year.
