Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra arrives with a $2,099.99 starting price
Samsung unveiled its priciest new foldable in London, packing a thinner body, bigger battery, upgraded cameras and fresh Galaxy AI video tools.

Samsung’s newest book-style foldable starts at $2,099.99, putting the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra firmly in luxury-phone territory before buyers even pick a color.
The company announced the device at a Galaxy Unpacked event in London, where it also introduced two other foldable phones and two Galaxy smartwatches. The Z Fold 8 Ultra succeeds last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 7, while the separately announced Galaxy Z Fold 8 is a different model with a wider body, according to Mashable.
That Ultra badge comes with a $100 bump over the Z Fold 7’s launch price. Pre-orders are open now, with the phone scheduled to become available on Aug. 7.
What Samsung packed inside
Samsung’s new foldable is built around an 8-inch AMOLED inner screen and a 6.5-inch AMOLED outer screen, both with 120Hz refresh rates. The phone runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset.
The Z Fold 8 Ultra comes in violet shadow, graphite, cream and green shadow. Buyers can choose 256GB, 512GB or 1TB of storage, with RAM ranging from 12GB to 16GB.

The upgrades that matter
Samsung shaved the unfolded thickness down to 4.1 mm, making the new model thinner than the Z Fold 7, according to Mashable. The report said it weighs the same as last year’s model.
The battery may be the upgrade many Fold fans notice first. Samsung moved from the Z Fold 7’s 4,400mAh cell to a 5,000mAh battery in the Z Fold 8 Ultra.
The camera setup also gets a notable lift, led by a 50MP ultrawide lens that replaces last year’s 12MP ultrawide camera, according to Mashable. The phone can also record 8K video.
Samsung is also introducing Flex Titanium, a foldable display technology that the company says helps reduce the visible crease and strengthens the hinge. Mashable, which got hands-on time with the new devices, reported that the crease was essentially absent in its demo unit.
AI comes for your video edits
Samsung added new software and AI features, including My Fan Cam and Cine LUTs. My Fan Cam uses Galaxy AI to turn horizontal videos into vertical edits, according to Mashable.
In a Samsung demo described by Mashable, the tool isolated one dancer from a group performance. Cine LUTs, meanwhile, gives video creators four preset looks intended to give footage a more cinematic style.
Where buyers can find it
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is available for pre-order from Samsung starting at $2,099.99 for the model with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.
Mashable reported that carrier launch offers from T-Mobile and Verizon can take off up to $1,100 for customers who meet certain terms and conditions. Amazon is also offering a $350 e-gift card with purchase, according to the report.
