Magic: The Gathering’s 2027 lineup is now on the table, and Wizards of the Coast is sending players under the sea, back to Kamigawa and into Zhalfir as a full plane of its own.
Hasbro’s tabletop powerhouse revealed the plans Friday during MagicCon: Amsterdam, announcing three mainline sets for next year: “Nauctis: The Sunken Realm,” “Kamigawa: Titanbreach” and “Zhalfir.” According to Wizards of the Coast, the releases will start a new story arc in the Magic Multiverse.
The three sets will sit alongside three still-unannounced Universes Beyond releases, Wizards said. Those crossover sets, which use outside intellectual property from brands such as Paramount, Disney and Marvel, are scheduled for April, August and November 2027.
The 2027 Magic sets
“Nauctis: The Sunken Realm” is first up, with a release date of Feb. 5, 2027. Wizards described the set as an undersea trip to Nauctis, a plane populated by merfolk, seals, homarids and deities, with conflict building between two rival kingdoms.
“Kamigawa: Titanbreach” follows on June 4, 2027. Wizards said the set brings two Magic planes into collision, with Ikoria’s monsters crash-landing in Kamigawa and forcing Kamigawa’s people to band together to protect their home.
“Zhalfir” arrives Oct. 1, 2027. In that set, Wizards said the kingdom of Zhalfir returns to the multiverse as its own plane, with its past magic in play as its people seek their place in the wider Multiverse. The set also features the chronomancer Teferi Akosa, returning for a new generation of players.
Before that 2027 run begins, Magic’s next major release is an August set inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien’s “The Hobbit.” Wizards is expected to show more from that set during MagicCon: Amsterdam, which runs through Sunday.
MagicCon gets a bigger map
Wizards also laid out the MagicCon schedule for the rest of 2026 and all of 2027. After this weekend’s Amsterdam event, the final MagicCon of the year is set for Atlanta from Nov. 13 to 15.
In 2027, Wizards said MagicCon will expand to four events around the world. The calendar starts in Detroit from Feb. 26 to 28, then moves to Tokyo from May 14 to 16, Las Vegas from Aug. 27 to 29 and Amsterdam from Dec. 3 to 5.
Friday’s Amsterdam showcase also included a new look at “Reality Fracture,” Wizards said. The October release is billed as the concluding set in a story arc that began with “Wilds of Eldraine” in 2023.
