Man on Fire and XO, Kitty pulled strong numbers in Netflix’s latest six-month viewing report, yet both shows remain without a public renewal decision, according to Deadline.

Netflix’s January-to-June 2026 What We Watched report, released Thursday, placed the Yahya Abdul-Mateen II action drama Man on Fire at No. 8 with 40.4 million views. Season 3 of the Anna Cathcart-led YA comedy XO, Kitty landed at No. 16 with 29.3 million views.

The timing makes the figures stand out. Deadline reported that Man on Fire reached its total across two months, from its April 30 launch through June 30. XO, Kitty, a spinoff of To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, built its total across roughly three months after premiering April 2.

Kitty could get a movie ending

The wait around XO, Kitty is a change from its earlier rhythm. Deadline noted that the show’s second and third seasons were each ordered less than a month after the prior season debuted.

Three and a half months after Season 3 arrived, the Awesomeness-produced series, now under Paramount Television Studios, has no announced next step. Deadline reported that Paramount Television Studios has extended Netflix’s option, giving the streamer extra time to decide.

According to Deadline, possible paths being discussed include a fourth season, either in the same setup or a new setting for Kitty, or a wrap-up movie to close Kitty’s story. Deadline also reported that the studio has extended cast options, keeping the actors available if Netflix orders more.

The talks are believed to be creative, Deadline reported. The outlet also cited chatter that creator Jenny Han, whose To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before books launched the franchise, may favor a three-season run for XO, Kitty. Han’s Prime Video series The Summer I Turned Pretty is also ending its series run after three seasons, with a film follow-up planned.

A movie finale would put XO, Kitty in similar company at Netflix. Deadline noted that Heartstopper, another YA title, is also set to conclude with a film after three seasons.

Season 3 ended with Kitty and Min Ho, played by Sang Heon Lee, reconnecting romantically and traveling to the United States so he could meet her father. In a Deadline interview after the season’s release, showrunner Valentina Garza did not discuss a possible fourth season, but said Lana Condor’s return as Lara Jean helped make the spinoff feel complete.

Deadline also reported that XO, Kitty has held steady compared with many returning Netflix shows. Its third season opened with 12.9 million views, near the 14.2 million views posted by Season 2 in its launch week.

Man on Fire talks continue

Man on Fire has also yet to get a public answer from Netflix, despite its high placement in the report. Deadline called the delay puzzling given the show’s performance.

The series, loosely based on the A.J. Quinnell novel, spent five weeks in Netflix’s Top 10 for English-language series, according to Deadline. It held the No. 1 spot for its first two weeks.

Deadline reported that there has been chatter the show, from New Regency and Chernin Entertainment, may not continue. Discussions are still ongoing, with no final decision announced.

One April release appears to be in a far weaker spot. Deadline reported that Season 2 of Tom Segura’s dark comedy Bad Thoughts drew 3 million views and ranked No. 830 in Netflix’s report.

Two other new scripted entries in the Netflix report, Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials at No. 20 with 28.6 million views and Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen at No. 48 with 20.3 million, were listed as Season 1 titles. Deadline reported that Netflix has designated both as limited series, meaning they are expected to remain one-season shows.
