JioHotstar launches in UK, Canada and Singapore with Bigg Boss voting
JioStar has replaced Hotstar with JioHotstar in three markets, adding live voting, new plans and different access perks by country.

JioHotstar UK, Canada and Singapore is now live, with JioStar replacing the existing Hotstar service in all three markets with a new app. The rollout, launched Sept. 2, brings more than 160,000 hours of programming, personalised recommendations and subtitles and dubbing in more than 12 Asian languages, according to Variety and Deadline.
The practical change for existing customers is straightforward: download JioHotstar, sign in using Hotstar credentials, and the subscription converts to the corresponding JioHotstar tier, Variety reported. The app is available on mobile devices and connected TVs through Apple’s App Store and Google Play, while Android users can complete registration inside the app.
What does JioHotstar offer in the UK, Canada and Singapore?
The shared headline feature is Bigg Boss. Viewers in all three countries can vote live across the reality franchise’s six language editions. Canada and the UK also get a 24/7 live feed, and Canada gets Bigg Boss Hindi seven days before its television broadcast, according to the two entertainment-industry outlets.
- Canada: Before-TV access to shows including Anupama, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Seher Hone Ko Hai and Azhagae Azhagu; plus India Ka Top 1 Percent, hosted by Anil Kapoor.
- Singapore: The same Before-TV access for those named shows, plus India Ka Top 1 Percent.
- UK: Popular television shows are available at the same time as their TV broadcasts, as well as the 24/7 Bigg Boss feed.
JioStar’s opening slate includes originals Ali Baba Aur Chaalis Bhoot, Prince of Mollywood, Part Timers and The Court. The catalogue also includes titles such as Criminal Justice, Special Ops, Asur, Heartbeat, Dhurandhar, 12th Fail and Chhichhore, Variety reported.
Cricket fans should note one important limit. Variety reported that the Indian Premier League and other cricket competitions for which JioStar holds Indian rights are not included in this launch package.
How much does JioHotstar cost?
- UK: £19.99 per quarter or £69.99 a year.
- Canada: CAD19.99 per quarter or CAD49.99 a year.
- Singapore: SGD29.98 per quarter or SGD69.98 a year.
The prices took effect Sept. 2. Existing UK subscribers can retain their monthly Hotstar plans while auto-renewal stays active, Variety said. The new quarterly option is available in all three countries.
The overseas service uses the JioHotstar name and experience already established in India, where JioStar combined JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar in 2025, Variety previously reported. The company says its broader product strategy includes conversational voice discovery, AI-driven personalization and in-app commerce. Those are JioStar-described strategy features, rather than a confirmed list of tools available in each of the three newly relaunched markets.
