Rays-Guardians ALCS Game 4 postponed: Rain in Cleveland forced Friday night’s game off the schedule, sending the series into a reshuffled weekend.
Game 4 will now begin at 8 p.m. ET Saturday at Progressive Field, ESPN reported. Game 5 has been moved to 5 p.m. ET Sunday, taking over what had been a scheduled off-day.
The game first went into a rain delay as Major League Baseball waited to see whether conditions would improve, according to CBS Sports. The league postponed it later Friday after the rain persisted.
What is the revised Rays-Guardians ALCS schedule?
- Game 4: Saturday, 8 p.m. ET, in Cleveland
- Game 5: Sunday, 5 p.m. ET, in Cleveland
- Game 6, if necessary: Monday, at Tropicana Field
- Game 7, if necessary: Tuesday, at Tropicana Field
The Guardians take a 2-1 lead into the rescheduled Game 4 after their 3-2 victory in Thursday’s Game 3, ESPN reported.
The announced pitching plans were unchanged by the postponement. Tampa Bay’s Nick Martinez is set to start, while Cleveland will use Shawn Armstrong to open a bullpen game, according to ESPN.
The revision means the clubs could play on four consecutive days, across Cleveland and then Tampa Bay, if the best-of-seven series needs Games 6 and 7. The winner will face the Milwaukee Brewers in the World Series, with Game 1 scheduled for Oct. 23 in Milwaukee, ESPN reported.
